Nothing very interesting happened today, except I learnt how to fly. What you do is… no, not get a golden eagle to swoop down and pick you up… what you do is get on your bike (if you don’t have one try holding a piece of meat out for a golden eagle); cycle down a slope which ends at a wooden fence and a open wooden little gate; crash into the post separating fence from gate simultaneously letting go of the bike; soar blissfully over the fence and gate; land neatly on the ground beyond the gate.

That last bit is quite tricky, so maybe the golden-eagle method is safer. Of course, the eagle might think you’re a rabbit and eat you. Or the golden eagle could be not super-strong and not be able to lift you. “You” being a general pronoun referring to people in general, you understand.

Aug 11 Sat Map: for 2007Aug11, showing Clachan, the Wide-Mouthed Frog, Kingussie, etc.

Lunch, at the Wide-Mouthed Frog, a restaurant just north of Oban, was a salad. The salad was more than okay: it was croak-ay! (That was meant to be a pardonable pun on “wide-mouthed frog”.)
