Apr 15 Wed

The weather over the past few days has been positively sunny, but today, all the rain that wasn’t released from the skies this past week (and added to by the extra evaporation) is torrentially being released today in a huge black thunder-storm. I’ve already heard 13 claps of thunder, though “claps” is a stupid word to describe thunder! More like, erm, let me think... rumblings, like a very distressed stomach, a whale, an elephant underground, a thick and huge sheet of metal being banged on, town-pigeons.

If I turn off my bedside-lamp, despite it being summer, and half-past nine in the morning everything’s a very dark greeny-grey, as my curtains are green.

And the rain is a constant massaging on the roof and windows, very much as if Chester is a drum, a kettle-drum, and Rain is participating in a rock-contest.

11.00 am. Now the rain’s stopped, everything is very vibrant, very vivid, very vivacious and vivified, very vigourous and vehement, like livid lipstick.
